1. Who We Are

WalletWiseEU is an independent personal finance blog for readers in the UK and Europe. We decide how and why your personal data is used, which makes us the data controller. You can contact us at any time through our contact form.

We are not a financial adviser. Nothing on this site is financial, tax or legal advice.

  • Contact form submissions: your name, email address, subject and message.
  • Newsletter email addresses: your email address, if you subscribe.
  • Analytics data: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location and how you found the site. This is collected by Google Analytics, and only if you accept analytics cookies.
  • Cookies: small files stored on your device. See our Cookie Policy.
  • IP address: our hosting servers record it in server logs whenever you visit the site.

You do not need an account to read the site, and we do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data.

3. Why We Collect It

  • To reply to your enquiries.
  • To send our newsletter, with your consent.
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it.
  • To show advertising that helps fund the site, if you accept advertising cookies.
  • To keep the site secure and to comply with legal obligations.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR Article 6)

5. How Long We Keep Data

  • Contact messages: 12 months.
  • Newsletter email addresses: until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data: up to 26 months.

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: ask us to correct data that is wrong.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data.
  • Restrict processing of your data in certain cases.
  • Data portability: receive your data in a common format.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To use any of these rights, send us a message through the contact form and tell us what you need. We will reply within one month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies, and analytics and advertising cookies only with your consent. Details, including how to change your choice, are in our Cookie Policy.

8. Third Party Services

We use these services to run the site. Each has its own privacy policy.

  • Cloudinary: stores and delivers the images on the site.

  • Neon: hosts the database where contact messages and newsletter addresses are stored.

You can manage personalised ads in your Google Ad Settings.

9. Data Transfers Outside the UK and EU

Some of these services may process data outside the UK and the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where that happens, the providers rely on safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses to protect your data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make an important change, we will say so on the site.
